8:44 About the lack of opportunity to correct yourself, I'm not sure how it was when you made this video but Duolingo just adds the question to the end of the lesson so you do get a chance to redo, just not as obviously.

They now added Hawaiian and Navajo (A Native American Indian language). DuoLingo also now includes a Spanish podcast option and a “Stories” option, to read narratives and funny stories in the language you are learning, every now in then it would make you fill in the blank and be part of the story. To all those people who are complaining about the “lack of grammar”, they have a “Tips” and “Notes” section next to each lesson (For me on mobile) or simply ask someone in the “Discussion” tab, that is why its there, duh. DuoLingo is useful for vocabulary, useful phrases and more. I love DuoLingo! I use it almost everyday, I write down the questions I get wrong on a sticky note, review it, then try again later, no biggie! Then, continue and study.

I've had this app for just over a month now; I got it to learn Irish - many language learning apps don't seem to offer this language - and I'm finding it quite addictive. However, though on the whole I'm enjoying using it, there are some things that really annoy me. It is really slow to load; I tried the paid for version for a short while but it was even worse and the absence of adverts didn't really make that much difference. Also there seemed to be no extra content, only the fact your health didn't run out, and I just used that happening to do more practice sessions. In fact I reverted to the free version as the paid for version didn't seem to justify the price, but since I did that, my health runs out far faster, and the questions take forever to load when you start a new section. But the thing that really bothers me is that the app invites me to take a quiz to measure my progress, but many of the questions include stuff that has not been covered in any of the lessons I have done. They should tailor the quiz questions to the material that has been covered by the student; if you're faced with something you've never come across it can be very demotivating!

Very few apps can match up to duolingo in terms of quality and versality.

The health bar is an attempt to get you to spend money. The developers are praying on people who don’t have the patience to wait for a reward. (aka people who bend to instant gratification.) When those people are told “you’re out of health! Buy more?” they will bend and spend money. If you know you cannot wait long periods of time for something to allow you to keep going AVOID this app. They only want your money and not the ad revenue the obviously make with the statement “this ad helps keep learning free!”. Just avoid this app. Find some online teacher instead. At least that teacher will tell you WHY something is wrong.

This app is really great and all but, WHY no latin? Is there latin and am I missing it? If so please tell me. Plus I wish you could delete a language. I accidentally added France as a language. I don’t take French. The app is good otherwise, I would definitely recommended it.

This app is amazing! Whether it be to study a language in school, learn one as a hobby or to just do something new, this is a fantastic way to learn. The lessons are clear and helpful, with the information sticking in ones mind very quickly. Would recommend to everyone!

I have wanted to learn languages for years. Being a visual person Duolingo is a brilliant way to do this. Brush up on your grammar or start a brand new language. I haven’t missed a day since I started. Thank you so much.

And some of those problems are solved. You can learn offline with a smartphone app but just one or two lessons. You MUST correct the wrong answer.

This app is great I’m learning Portuguese, but why have the last however many updates all had the same description, and every time you say tips will be added to other languages soon yet every update says the same thing. No tips or explanations for Portuguese, a lot of guessing why different words mean the same thing or one word means multiple things

Notifications are working again, still not sure why they stopped without warning for a time. But with that fixed the app is great and a good way to incentivise learning languages through a mobile app structure.

I love the app but the new update is so bad. Is there a way I can go back to the old update?

If you use it in combination with a variety of sources. Like T.V shows, movies, music, books and Youtube as well. Then it's a really great place to start. And now you can download for offline use! As a side note, you can also learn Navajo now!
