I am a huge fan of the USWNT, but had never followed the men’s team too much. This was an absolute joy to listen to. I didn’t know all of these stories at all, and the dramatic and thoughtful way in which the events are told is completely entertaining. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give the USWNT the same in depth treatment! I’d love to listen to that podcast!!!

I don't follow or honestly understand soccer/football but Roger makes the subject so exciting and interesting. This is a beautifully told story that I would have never had interest in before this podcast.

This is a gripping account of how American soccer went wrong in 1998 World Cup by the inimitable Men in Blazers’ Roger Bennett.

I am almost finished and I am devouring this podcast. I am not the biggest football fan, but I love the psychology behind sports, what it means to play on a team, and the interactions between players/coaches. And this is the holy grail of all those things. Rog, your passion has suddenly become my passion! Cheers!

This is an entertaining and informative story about the disaster that was the US soccer team at the 1998 World Cup. As an American I remember how disappointed everyone was, but this is the real story. Great for everyone, whether you like soccer or not.

Absolutely amazing, funny, well spoken and very informative. I am a Canadian footy fan who can totally relate to a country that does not love this beautiful sport. How ever, from this recent World Cup I have had many “soccer” hating friends actually fall in love with the World Cup. I can absolutely relate to this podcast 100%.

Roger is a fantastic story teller. His passion for all things football and all things American is unmatched by anyone else. His enthusiasm for what he is doing shines through out the series. He is able to get stories and truths out of the players, coaches, etc that others would not. He’s a fantastic interviewer and storyteller who gets nearly every question answered throughout the interviews. I am not a die-hard soccer fan, but I really loved this podcast. I couldn’t stop listening.

I paced this out so I could enjoy it for a while. Even post world cup 2018 this is a wonderful podcast that I have recommended even to my non-soccer fan friends.

A mediocre soccer team performed mediocre in a World Cup and struggled with some team dynamics. Not particularly calamitous, intriguing or novel. 2.5 stars

Listen to this and you’ll just feel better about everything. You’ll learn things about life and football. Rog and his team make what would otherwise be a good tale... a wonderful tale. Superb research coupled with one of the most soothing voices and crispest storytellers out there. Thank you.

I'm not much of a football fan but this is an enthralling listen. To hear the systemic failings that have hampered the US men's team, excellent work. GB

As an English fan I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy this, but Roger Bennett is a fabulous storyteller - and what a story of dreams dashed on the jagged rocks of footballing reality. American Fiasco is about football, but, in a wider sense, it is about what can go wrong when a ‘leader’ doesn’t genuinely understand what he is managing and gets it all wrong. Positively Shakespearean stuff! GB
