I felt that this series lacked actual story-telling and development and instead went straight to shock-factor filler material. There are some great reviews that go into more detail, and I agree with all of them. If you like hearing people talk about gore, this is for you; if you like true crime series, look elsewhere.

Excellent collaboration! I love the creativity! Not for the light hearted! Some details made my stomach hurt and covered my face with the blanket! Don’t listen before bed! It’s a collaboration of all three podcasts to me, and tells the story from the Criminal’s mind. It’s fascinating, scary, graphic, and mysterious all wrapped together! I find this podcast brilliant and eerie!
The come back
What an amazing show. The detail take your to the moment. Close your eyes, and realize what has happened. This is not for the faint of heart, but if you are strong enough, enjoy the showmanship.
Really wanted to like this. Love sword and scale but the writings alright. Too much filler.
I know your trying to make it more of a story but it’s too graphic with the sound effects. Need to tone it down a bit
I’m sure you’re really good at what you do. How you do it and don’t seem broken by it I’m dumbfounded. There has been a few Sword & Scale episodes that got to me, and upset me right to my core. This new one I couldn’t even get through half of it. I must weak and honestly I’m good with that. My husband thinks I’m weird already because I’m obsessed with true crime everything. But the dark net and the crazy scariness it holds could possibly have me second guessing leaving my house again. EVER!!! Some how I think this is the angle you’re going for and with that in mind I will give you five ⭐️’s
Love love Sword and Scale but this one...Mike is trying to be way too dramatic it’s distracting. We just want to hear the story!! I understand he is trying to set the mood but it’s way overkill. I’m very disappointed. Was looking forward to this.
I wanted so badly to love this podcast but it’s boring. The narration alone puts me right to sleep. The writing is just as subpar. It feels forced- like a kid trying to fit into a clique that’s no where in their realm of comfortability. The writing only makes me think of someone who has credited themself a strong writer and no one in their life had the guts to tell them that they were okay, at best. Much like the terrible contestants of American Idol. I’ll go elsewhere for my true crime. This is nothing to write home about.
I wasn’t a fan of the first episode, but I have enjoyed the other two days far. I can visualize everything happening.
Platinum! Well done.
Awful. I love true crime but I find the story telling awful. Not scary at all. Just cringeworthy. Disappointed.
I love the hosts and their other shows, however I zoned out a lot because of long over drawn descriptions which are just unnecessary and over dramatic style in general... why use 20 works when 5 will do? There's so many overly detailed and repetitive parts just to say one thing. I get what they're trying to do here but honestly just a show where they talk to each other would have been better. I feel terrible but these reviews are supposed to be honest!
You guys have put together an amazing podcast!!! Keep up the good work guys!
Great idea - the shock factor wasn’t really there until ‘The Butcher’. The first two shorts were easy listening to be honest, but The Butcher is what I expected and wanted it to be. In addition: - the advert for that stupid, ridiculous security company in The Butcher, Part 1 almost made me delete the entire podcast. Firstly, there were no adverts ANYWHERE else, and then randomly that ridiculous advert. No. Don’t do it again, and if you do, I’m not subbing. - By Part 2 of The Butcher, the sound effects and narration got waaaaay better. The ‘acting’ or whatever it’s called by the hosts sounds amateur - they should’ve taken alternates when it came to victim vs perpetrator narration. It would’ve made more sense. The dodgy voice acting in some of the sections was really, really bad. Please get other people to do those snippets if they’re that necessary. For me, the Butcher Part 2 was the best executed in terms of all of these irritants. - The background sounds were great. - I’ve been more shocked by some Sword and Scale episodes more than this. It wasn’t really that shocking - other than The Butcher. The Butcher was what I wanted this entire show to be. - The writing is amazing. I like that the entire show is based off of real life events, and that it ‘captures’ that which is pre and post the offence, rather than just the offence then prosecution, then custodial sentence, end of story. Other than that I really like the idea of this. Obviously being the first iteration there will be opportunities for improvement and I hope they do because this is something that can be really new to true crime - it just needs a little bit of refinement.

What a different perspective on the way you deliver this absolutely awesome. Can’t wait for more great work guys.
Santa Claus attaches his sleigh to Chuck Norris's jumping side kick.
Surreal & creepy. I liked the perspective nicely done!
Absolutly Amazing - Mike from Sword &Scale has delivered again! Would excpect nothing less! Great Job boys
As an avid fan of sword and scale I’m afraid we seem to have lost the plot. I’m not sure why you deviated from the winning formula. Although based on true stories, there is far too much fiction is this no real footage. Your main feature was you, but now you are simply reading from a script which loses all of the magic. I’m sure you will still have many fans, but you’ve lost me. GB
I love Sword and Scale and I love Dark Topic, but when you combine the darkest elements of those podcasts and then start inventing a killers thoughts and feelings you have really jumped the shark. It's full of details that no-one could ever know but that doesn't stop the writers salaciously re-imagining stories you have probably heard before. GB
I am a huge sword&scale fan but this isn’t it. The storytelling is trying to hard for god sake get to the point GB
Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing.
