Kristen Bell podcastI love all these podcasts. And I love Jay and his perception and the way him and his guests thoughts make me think and consider new things. I loved the parenting aspect of the Kristen Bell podcast, I thought this one was particularly interesting. I would want to get light on Jays opinion on the Purple people book though, out of no disrespect just discussion on a lot of comments and reviews saying it promotes colour blindness (in racial terms). Monk or Monkey EthicsAll those non-stop product endorsements and rambling sales pitches completely destroy the good intent and content. For someone who had spent years in monk hood, taught to enjoy simplicities of life and purity of mind to now peddle consumerism and promote capitalism under the guise of spirituality? As soon as I heard that ad about 15% off some skincare brand by quoting his name, I deleted all his podcasts. Shame. He ain’t no monk. Think Like a Monkey would be more apt as title for his book..Score: 1/5

Inspiring words and ideas to live byA life changing podcast with inspiring advice, ideas and analogies. I feel so much more fulfilled since I started listening to them. I have recently been diagnosed with Chronic fatigue syndrome and am unable to do much at all physically at the moment, these podcasts have shown me that I can still enjoy each day by learning, listening and reading. Like the intention but a little feedback to helpI like the intention behind these podcasts and the content Jay pushes out. It does inspire me in many ways and I have enjoyed his book. I struggle with the true authenticity of the “monk life” when there is a lot of consumerism and materialism still quite apparent. I agree with the other reviews that the ads are unnecessary are disruptive, and don’t really seem in line with the content or subject area. What has signing up for Ziprecruiter got to do with the deep teaching a Swami is sharing? I also find the audio quality surprising considering how popular this podcast is — it sounds like Jay is speaking in his bathroom, there is a lot of echo. It’s distracting when he is laughing, coughing, mm’ing when the person he is interviewing is talking. It distracts away from what they are saying. Maybe you can mute your mic a bit more when your interviewee is speaking. I understand the need to show interaction but it’s distracting on an audio podcast. I hope this helps. Otherwise, thankyou for trying to help us and share wisdom that will hopefully inspire us all. Thanks..Score: 2/5

Hard sell (mid interview) adverts..... are not welcome... I appreciate you need to make money, we all do. But bombarding listeners with adverts mid flow, within a deep and touching interview, is just annoying. At the start, at the end, or even as a part of a planned break within the interview, great. Crack on! But slap bang mid conversation, mid breath, is just poor. It isn’t working and I won’t be listening again..Score: 1/5

Fab but please stop the long ads!I used to listen to Jay Shetty podcasts as soon as they came out and couldn’t wait for the next one. I absolutely love everything you are about Jay (& guests!) & I’ve learnt SO much! - thank you 🙏🏽 However the amount of adverts there are now I find my self fast forwarding throughout the whole episode which is sad because of how much I loved these podcasts. I normally listen to them when I’m running or cooking or walking and it’s so irritating that I have to skip through tones of adverts. Plus very distracting when I’m trying to have an hour to myself! Not What is First SeemedTo start with, I love how Jay is so passionate and caring, and interested in his guests. He has a real talent, and shares so much value! But the longer I listened, just like all the other poor reviews here, it seems like he isn’t quite the genuine authentic person I thought. It takes a lot for me to complain and come here to specifically give a poor review, but though I love his content, his advertising is super random, not authentic, and strewed throughout the whole podcast, I now rarely listen anymore. Great butLet me start with the good. At its surface this is a great podcast, I agree with so many of Jay’s lessons. I’m often nodding to many of the suggestions presented “Does this happen to you?” “Do you feel this way?” Now the bad, I am not sure when this happened but the ads have gotten completely out of control. I will say that there are so many at this point, that I begin to wonder how authentic Jay is? I know many would say “ya, but these are commercials for products that will help your health and wellness.” To be honest with you, that is kind of my issue with the wellness industry, there is a lot of smoke and mirrors, yes they are helping many but it’s big business and unfortunately On Purpose has seemingly become this during the pandemic. I get everyone has to make money but let’s not take advantage of your audience that already support you by subscribing. I would love to give Jay’s podcast 5 stars but seriously, the commercial reads are getting totally out of control. I will continue to listen as this a very good podcast but I hope Jay takes a step back on those. Rant over..Score: 3/5

WisdomLots of wisdom to be had here. Though I can't help but wonder how it lands on people who have challeneges exacerbated by the pandemic. Gamechanging podcastI found On Purpose during COVID-19 quarantine at a time when my mental health and emotional/spiritual self was at a low. Jay has changed my mindset and my emotional well-being in a way that can’t be replicated. I have started meditating, journaling, taking inventory of my emotions, and more. He even inspired me to start my own podcast! I especially resonated with his most recent episode with Malcolm Gladwell. Always great insight, please keep the content coming Jay!.Score: 5/5

InauthenticLet me begin by saying how much I love Jay’s energy and enthusiasm. This is a podcast I could really get in to. But the advertising just turns my stomach. Jay, if you can deliver a skincare ad with a straight face only seconds after preaching about the perils of consumerism, how can I believe in you? Credibility is the foundation of leadership, and your audience wants to your messages to be aligned. Here’s a tip. Listen to the first episode of Brené Brown’s podcast, Unlocking Us. Pay attention to the authentic conversation she has with her audience about sponsorship and how she is navigating this difficult terrain. She totally nailed it!! I know you can too. I look forward to a re-boot where you come clean with your audience and deliver the sponsorship messages in a more discreet and honest way..Score: 2/5

Great content but way too many ads!3 stars only because you started having way too many ads, your podcast was great at the beginning felt more down to earth now I am feeling you got so commercial that you lost that genuine spiritual touch you once had. I feel you are heading into the Tony Robbins, Brandon Bouchard direction, trying to sell these coaching programs. BrilliantI’m enjoying these podcasts. Thanks to Jay’s short interview on Toronto’s “Early morning” show, I was intrigued by Jay’s spiritual experience as a monk and how it transformed his life. I started with his October 2nd podcast episode which happened to be a narrative from his book!! I can’t wait to get the book!! The podcast featuring Russell Brand was really cool; I honestly had no idea Russell Brand was so spiritual and so grounded!! Listen to the podcast— both Jay and Russell are so transparent, articulate and insightful. I was super excited with the podcast featuring Laurie Santos as I had taken her course during lockdown and Jay once again reinforced the concepts that help us navigate a more happy life. The last episode featuring Radhanath Swami was quite inspiring and reminds us to block out the external noise and listen to our voice.. I’m hooked on these podcasts and my 14 year old son (who listens to many podcasts about success) eavesdrops on Jays podcasts all the time and comments on his principles... thank you Jay!!!.Score: 5/5

Unbearable & disappointing amount of ad interruptionsEdit: The initial distaste I had, was affirmed when I googled Jay Shetty “scams”. There are multiple incidents of him plagiarizing/stealing other peoples quotes word for word and claiming them as his own. Let’s not revere and support dishonesty. ***** Less than 15 minutes in, and there have already been 3 ads, that feel like they go on forever. From skin care products, to apps, to books.... The volume and pitch of the ads is also significantly higher and more piercing than the episode itself, making it difficult to simply allow them to play in the background as you wait in joyous anticipation for the episode to resume Whether it is a true representation of the quality of the content, or the ire induced from the intrusively obnoxious amount and ear piercing volume of ads....I can’t help but feel the content comes across mediocre, inauthentic, a shallow regurgitation of popular self improvement concepts and literature, in an effort for self gain (making money through ad revenue and selling). This is not say those are inherently bad, but the balance is so far swung that this podcast feels “sleazy”..Score: 1/5

I have noticed recently a lot of what you say is recycled in a lot of episodes so it can get a bit repetitive. Example: when you mention you have spent half your summers interning and half as a monk - this has been mentioned in numerous episodes and in your book. This becomes interesting when someone you interview that has apparently read your book sounds surprised about this fact, it loses credibility that this person promoting your book has even read it. Maybe you will gain more life experience and more stories to tell as time goes on, but if you only have the same handful of experiences to talk about it might become a bit stagnant to stay captivating as a podcast..Score: 4/5

Warning : Salesman AlertI was looking forward to listening up this podcast and tried episode 164 which was a huge disappointment as: 1. Much of the content is generic and repurposed from elsewhere 2. He spends most of his time promoting his book, and 3. He switches between content and sponsor segments (which he presents) without warning and doesn’t make it clear whether zip recruiter and the exercise bikes he’s advocating are part of the program or paid ads. His voice is very strainedI had to turn down the volume because the stress in his voice is not my kind of vibration. The advertising segments were truly ugly, the aggression in his voice and the stress come across and there wasn’t even a one second pause before he started yelling. Okay yelling is a slight exaggeration but) how can I convey how violent it was? I guess this podcast is okay for younger (British) listeners who have grown up with the shouty man style of voice over but it’s not easy on the ears. Content was pretty light.
