The Bible in a Year (with Fr. Mike Schmitz) Reviews
This has been fantastic! Thank you so much for all of the time that you’re putting into this! I’m sure it is a big time commitment for you, so I just wanted you to know that I appreciate it so much. I’m thankful for you allowing God to work in this way and praying for you and everyone listening!
This podcast is amazing so far! I’ve done the Bible timeline study from Jeff Cavins, and Fr Mike takes it to a whole new level. His commentary is bite sized and perfect. Highly recommend! It’s my favorite way to start the day ❤️

It is just Day 5 and already I have learned so much just from the words of the scripture I thought I knew and from Father Mike, who speaks so casually and informally as if you are just talking with a friend. Wow. At the end of the book of Job, Father Mike’s lesson is a true revelation: the answers we often seek are found — God himself.
Thank you Fr. Mike for doing this for us. What a beautiful gift. Thanks to everyone behind the scenes. I am definitely praying for you and I love knowing you are praying for us!
Father Mike Thank you from me and my wife from the bottom of our hearts. The bible in a year is simply brilliant and Ana maxing idea. You are a pioneer in my eyes . Thank you and may god bless you and keep you going. This is a amazing gift to humanity these days and I hope they eat it up !

After reading the negative reviews, I felt moved to clarify some things. This podcast is here to get those who struggle with the Bible, because: they have never picked it up, do not know what is going on, doesn't follow in chronological order, or simply see it as a religious book and not the history of of Salvation. This podcast takes the Bible and reads certain books as the main chapters in a chronological ordered book, while using similar books or books written in the same generation as references or support. Of course, we could all use more commentary, but this is not the purpose of this podcast, it is to help acquaint those to the Bible and the history of our Faith. The speed at which Father Mike reads may be a little on the fast side, but that is where I would invite you to read the readings before or after listening to the podcast. Don’t give up on it because of these minor distractions, that is the most common way the devil deceives you. God bless you all and may he guide you through this journey. God bless Father Mike for being a shepherd to the vast wandering flock our Catholic Church has become.
I prayed towards the end of 2020 for a desire to read Gods word and this podcast popped up as a suggestion. Although i'm not Catholic, rather i’m Protestant, the interpretations of scripture is so encouraging and told in a way that makes me feel like God is right here with me. i’m so blessed to have found this podcast when i did and that i have the opportunity to grow in Christ as this podcast takes off. Thank you for your ministry and your dedication to Christ.
Great to supplement my bible reading! Fr Mike has such great insight! I’ve been sharing it with my women’s group and it has made us ponder a lot more together and for that I’m grateful! So easy to listen to! I’m so glad I decided to do this! Can’t wait for more!
Wow, it’s only been two days and this podcast has already brought me so many graces. Fr. Mike and Jeff Cavins are giving us the opportunity to live in and soak up God’s Word in a whole new way, and I am so grateful for this gift. 2021 is going to be an amazing year!
Ascent to Joy
Every day I look forward to the afternoon when Father reads to us the Bible. It is just so wonderful for it takes only 20 minutes at the most and we learn so much. Thank you from the depth of my heart for this opportunity. We live in Australia, yet we feel so close to the family of God.
What a blessing! Thank you for your insights and guidance x God Bless!
So great to have The Word proclaimed, prayer shared and teaching given each day from the depths of our catholic faith. It’s really wonderful. Thank you Lord for this great provision. Thank you to the ones who said “Yes” to bring it about.

Thank you Fr Mike and Ascension for this incredible and ambitious Podcast. The reading plan is skilfully constructed, our reading takes only 20 minutes. It feels like Fr Mike’s narration is inspired by God, I realise I’ve never felt the bible come alive like this when spoken before ..in church or elsewhere. Fr Mike analyses and summarises the text with grace , he is so uplifting and inspirational, every day I feel empowered in my faith. I also feel blessed that I am united with a new family of ‘students’ which is just lovely. Fr Mike is bringing me closer to God. GB
This is my main takeaway so far ie that God loves us - and what a great one! Mike is making sense of the story and doing it with such enthusiasm. Also, his daily prayers are great - straightforward language and lovely purpose and meaning. GB
Thank you Fr Mike and Ascension for putting together such an incredible resource which invites us deeper into the Word of God in such an accessible way. Cannot recommend it more highly, God bless! GB
There is one thing you have got to learn about our movement. Three people are better than no people.
