Linus Christmas Speech Reviews
I was born in ‘89 I wish I’d lived back before my time when the world was more simple
"You're hopeless Charlie Brown, completely hopeless!" This, the fact that everyone laughs at him (even Snoopy), plus what Lucy says, makes this one of the saddest scenes in cartoon history - utterly heartbreaking. I've always loved Peanuts - very intelligent and done with great sensitivity. I have a soft spot for Charlie Brown - even though he's hapless, he's got a good heart, is decent, and never gives up. Charles Schulz was an utter genius. I think the only cartoon that came close to matching that level of sensitivity, sophistication, and intelligence was Calvin and Hobbes. In fact, Bill Watterson in the Tenth Anniversary Calvin and Hobbes book said that Schulz was a pivotal influence on him. It was a dark day in the world of comics when both of them ended.
He drops his blanket for peace.
Chuck Norris bought a whole chicken and ate only its soul
As an atheist (raised Catholic) I've always appreciated this scene, and Schulz's work in general, for it's ability to communicate deeply felt beliefs without coming across as "preachy."
